Carroll Curtis Obituary

A Prominent Citizen Dies Very Suddenly
From the Winston Herald May 28, 1920
Submitted by Joann Holdbrooks

Mr. Carroll Curtis a prominent farmer and business man of near Double Springs, was stricken with paralysis Saturday night and died within a few hours. He had been to Birmingham in a hospital a few months back for treatment for some disease causing a weakening of the blood vessels, and had recovered sufficiently to return home and in a measure resume business. His friends were daily congratulating him, and rejoicing with him upon his apparent recovery.

He had retired for the night feeling fine; but about 9 o'clock complained of a severe headache, and soon thereafter became paralyzed and unable to speak. He died shortly after without regaining consciousness.

His remains were interred in the Rock Creek Cemetery Sunday with Masonic honors.

He was a devout Christian, an exemplary Mason, a good neighbor, a kind husband and father, and a model citizen. His place in our community will be hard to fill. We extend sympathies to the bereaved.
