Obituary of Eli Henson. On April 17, at 4 o’clock in the morning, the death angel came and summoned our beloved friend Eli Henson to the world beyond. He died from the effects of a wound received late on the evening of the 14th by Marcus Tucker who fired the fatal shot that caused his death.

We were with Uncle Eli a right smart before he died and he has left a bright testimony behind. He even prayed for his assassin. He left a wife and four children and many friends to mourn their loss. But we believe when the dead in Christ shall rise that Uncle Eli will come forth and have part in the first resurrection and be permitted to walk with God on the earth a thousand years over such the second death hath no dominion.

We were called on to hold burial services to a large audience of heart broken people. We only made a very short talk of which were to the young men, boys and girls of the evil that murder leads to. While we made our short talk and listened to wife and children weeping of the loss of companion and father we were made to rejoice in the glory of God over the good thought that each one could meet him again in that world beyond the seas where sad parting shall be no more and where murders can never enter. We have a heart of tender love and sympathy for the bereaved ones left behind and trust that each one may so live and act in this world that they may meet around the dazzling throne of God and to walk the golden streets of the City and be as angels of God. J.J. Barker.
