The Death Angel made it's way to this timely world July 23, 1934 at (9) nine o'clock a.m. and took our beloved father from this low land of sin and sorrow to go and live in peace and happiness with the one who died on the cross for the ???? of the world, there to be reunited with his father, mother, brother, sister and friends and two wives, who had outstripped him and gone on to await his coming to the glory world.

He was born in Georgia May 25, 1854. He gave his heart and life to God about the age of (21) twenty one. On July 29, 1875 he was united in holy wedlock to Miss Marcena Bearden. Then, feeling the lead of the Lord he entered the ministry and the rest of his life he spent preaching the word of god and pointing souls to God. He was faithful to his calling and it can be said of him as of Paul. I have fought a good fight, I have kept the faith, henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness:. God saw fit to entrust nine children to his home, five boys and four girls, then God called his wife home, Dec. 4, 1899. After living alone for nearly a year, he married Nancy J. Bearden Aug 8, 1900, a niece of his first wife and to them six children were born: 3 boys, 3 girls two dying in infancy. On Dec 30, 1914 God took his other wife home to live with him. Since then he has been alone with his children until god called him home July 23, 1934. He leaves to morn his going, besides friends, loved ones, daughters-in-law, sons in-law, nine (9) children, six boys, three girls, as follows: L.M. Gober of Florence, J. L. Gober, N. J. Gober, both of Carbon Hill, N. H. Gober of Delmar, A. W. Gober, O.C. Gober of Tuscaloosa, Mrs. James Lewallen of ??, Mrs. Dayton Curtis of Double Springs, Mrs. John Smith of Nauvoo. He was a church member from early life. a man who loved God and wanted to see the world saved. Our hearts are made sad to know that we can never see his smiling face or hear his voice any more on this earth. We can't call him back to us, but Praise God! we can go to him, if we live true to God as he did. His body of clay was taken to Ashridge, where the funeral was conducted by Rev. C. L. Vest, a man who he loved as a brother. The comforting chap. of the bible, St. John 14th ch. was used to comfort the bereaved, also Isiah 9:6 was used. Mr. Columbus Taylor conducted the singing with Mrs. Cleo Brown at the organ. He was laid to rest by his wives and children there to await the morning of the resurrection. Active pall barrers: J. M. Williams, J. B. Rice, M. W. Curtis, Oscar Noles, Geo. Brannon, William Carnell. Honorary pall bearers C. R. Baccus, J. H. Jacobs, J. R. Crittenden, Willaim Pulliam, John Cagle, G. W. Lovett, E. L.
