John D. Haley Dies in Birmingham. Transfusion of Blood From His Brother Failed to Save Him. John D. Haley, a prominent citizen of Winston county, died at a local infirmary Monday morning at 5:45 o’clock. He was brought to Birmingham three weeks ago suffering from appendicitis. His condition was regarded as serious for several days, and Sunday at noon he was given a transfusion of blood from his brother, C.L. Haley, with a hope of prolonging his life. Sunday night he was operated on for appendicitis. Mr. Haley was 48 years of age and is survived by eight brothers and four sisters. The remains were shipped to Haleyville Monday at noon by Lige Loy.—Birmingham News.
