By request of Carbon Hill Lodge, NO. 494, a special communication was held by Whitfield Lodge to day, at Shiloh Cemetery, to perform the last sad offices of respect to our late aged and venerable brother, James Dickerson Lane, of Carbon Hill Lodge No. 494.

Neighboring Lodges were invited and joined in the cermonies. Brother Lane, during his long Masonic life, had been the loved and honored Master of five Lodges, and many of his brethren were drawn together to join in the tribute of Love and Respect.

The undersigned, members of the Lodges present, were appointed a committee, and report the following preamble and resolutsions:

WHEREAS, His christian and Mason life and character was an example of unaffected piety to God and love for his fellow-men, as walking in the footsteps of his Divine Master, he went about doing good, filling in every relation of life the perfect duties of a perfect manhood.

Resolved, that the members of our several Lodges be requested to wear the usual badge of mourning for thirty days. That these resolutions be inscribed in a page of minutes, set apart to perpetuate his memory; a copy be sent to the widow of our brother, and a copy be sent to the Masonic Guide for publication.
