Memorium. Baptist Church, Gamble Mines, Ala., July 14th, 1903. Whereas, it has pleased the Supreme Ruler of the universe to remove from our midst by death our beloved pastor, Rev. James Hilton, who was born December 1, 1833, and departed this life July 3, 1903, age 69 years, 7 months and 2 days. In the death of Bro. Hilton, his family has lost a kind husband and an indulgent father, the church a faithful servant, the country a good citizen, the poor a good friend and faithful helper in time of trouble. Therefore, be it resolved--

1. That our loss is his eternal gain; and though he is gone from among us, yet he is not dead, but sleepeth; and his works have been done to stand and will last forever, and ware worthy of our emulation. Therefore, let us weep not as those who have no hope, but press forward to the mark of the prize of the high calling as it is in Christ Jesus.

2. That we bow in humble submission to the will of Him, who doeth all things well, and commend the bereaved family for strength and support to an all-wise heavenly Father, we also extend them our deepest sympathy and condolence.

3. That a copy of these resolutions be spread on the minutes of the church, a copy given the bereaved wife, and a copy sent the Mountain Eagle and the Southern and Alabama baptist for publication. Thos. P. Deweese, J.H. Freeman, Committee.
