We learn the sad news that John F. Curtis Deputy Sheriff of Haleyville died from the effects of an operation in a Birmingham hospital on last Monday, and his body was carried back to Haleyville and buried. Uncle Steve McCollum and his wife and perhaps others attended the funeral from this place.

"Gov. John" as his friends called him was a good man, attentive to duty and loyal to his friends, and will be sadly missed. The bereaved have our sympathy.
