Girl Killed by Lightning. During the rain storm that passed over this section Thursday, lightning struck the home of John Fincher, near Arley, and killed his sister, Myra Fincher, who was lying on a pallet in the house. Mr. Fincher was in Jasper when she was killed, and received the sad news over the telephone at Phillips and Stanley’s store. There were two other women and some children in the house when the house was struck. They were lying on beds and were considerably shocked. It seems the lightning struck the telephone wire and ran into the ground wire, which was attached to a sleeper of the house by a nail, in this way the girl received the full shock.

The sudden death of Miss Fincher cast a gloom over Arley neighborhood, as the young woman had many friends in that section.—Jasper Eagle.

[Myra Fincher, 1865 – 12 Jul 1913, buried in the Hadder Cemetery]
