The Winston County Genealogical Society met at the Double Springs Community Center.

I. Minutes:

    1. Minutes from the last meeting were read and approved.

II. Treasurer’s Report:

None

III. Old Business:

    1. Those at the Winston County Technical Center will talk to the students’ parents concerning the logo. At this time, we will table it. Joann will work on the rough draft of the official logo.
    2. The wreath-laying at the Garrison-Payne Cemetery had great attendance. We will show the video at the August meeting.
    3. We did not get to the Old Lovett Cemetery for cleaning. Plans are to do this in early August.
    4. The sheet rock is up at the archives building, and work is being done on it everyday. Shelves will be lining the walls on the side.

IV. New Business/Upcoming Events:

    1. The program for July will be speaker Robin Sterling on the Civil War in Winston County.
    2. The forest no longer wants us to drive in to the Johnson Cemeteries. Treva wrote a letter to Congressman Robert Aderholt and brought a petition for us to sign that wants to.
    3. The newsletter is out, and Joann dedicated this issue to Darryal Jackson.
    4. Sam Weaver donated $100 to the society from Captain Jackson.
    5. P.J. will be working on creating a newsletter CD containing all previous newsletters, which will be sold by the society.

V. Program:

    1. The program was the scrumptious country dinner.
