The Winston County Genealogical Society met at the Winston County Archives.
I. Minutes:
- Minutes from the last meeting were read and approved.
II. Treasurer’s Report:
- Checking - $1,012.71
- No Checks Written; $50 Deposit
- $25 was donated by Joan White Crittenden
III. Old Business:
- If Earline Curtis cannot help us with the tax exemption status, Dianne will check with Jimmy Johnson as well as James Gaskin to see if they can help.
- The first Heritage Book is being offered for sale in conjunction with the second volume, of which the deadline has been extended.
- Darryal and Dianne will contact Carla Waldrep about having a book signing for The Whizbangs of Oohs and Aahs by Ronald Solberg.
IV. New Business/Upcoming Events:
- Newspapers have been partially logged at the Northwest Alabamian by Joann.
- The newsletter is out.
- Historical News paper is asking for unusual tombstone photos for publication.
- Starting October 1, 2008, the motion passed in January will become effective for $20 dues for individuals.
- We have received a newsletter exchange from Morgan County, and it was decided to send the newsletter to the Florence-Lauderdale Library. Carolyn will ask Birmingham and Wallace State if they would like to receive them also.
- P.J. will look into putting the old newsletters into PDF format for the newsletter CD.
- The archives board has tentatively set the opening date of the archives for December 1.
- P.J. made a motion to add the minutes of the meetings to the web site, and it was passed.
- Rick Harris brought by one of the new Canon digital cameras and macro lens for the archives.
