The Winston County Genealogical Society met at Pork and Beans in Double Springs.

I. Minutes:

    1. Minutes from the last meeting were read and approved.

II. Treasurer’s Report:

    1. Checking - $1,016.92
    2. Checks: Post Office Box Rent: $38.00; Postage: $24.78; Printing: $48.00
    3. Deposits: $105.00

III. Old Business:

    1. There is no news on the opening of the archives. It has been shut down due to inadequate inaccessibility. Even so, we have no grievances yet on the specifics. Until this situation is resolved, our designated meeting place will be at the Double Springs Community Center. If that is unavailable, we will meet at either Pork and Beans or Jack's restaurants.
    2. Members of the WCGS and the Haleyville Historical Society took a field trip to Indian Head and Mushroom Rocks in South Haleyville on January 11, 2009.
    3. Our non-profit status is tabled until the archives situation is resolved.

IV. New Business/Upcoming Events:

    1. Dues are due.
    2. Ronald made a motion that all officers stay the same. Darryal seconded and the motion passed. Officers are: President- Dianne Miller; Vice-President- Treva Hood; Recording Secretary- Peter J. Gossett; Treasurer/Corresponding Secretary- Carolyn Hunter; and Board of Directors: Carolyn Hunter, Darryal Jackson, and Ronald Jackson.
    3. Dianne made the statement that we need more guest speakers once we are back in the archives. She will look into getting speakers lined up. We will also try to get field trips for this year.
    4. A west/southwest Winston County tour and field trip is scheduled for February 21 at 12:30. For non-cooperative weather, it will be rescheduled for February 28 at 12:30. More details will be available by the next meeting.
