The Winston County Genealogical Society met at Pork and Beans in Double Springs.
I. Minutes:
- Minutes from the last meeting were read and approved.
II. Treasurer’s Report:
- Checking - $1,293.93
III. Old Business:
- The parking lot looks great at the archives, but we are still pending opening.
- An article on Millstone Mountain is in the works for the next newsletter.
- The collage of town signs is in place on the web site.
- Treva has the microfilm for the following years of newspapers: 1908, 1915, 1918, 1919, and 1920.
IV. New Business/Upcoming Events:
- The small building at Darryal’s where the society has it’s material stored is becoming unavailable. We need to find another place for storage.
- Another tour, this time in the Bankhead and Sipsey areas, is being planned for June.
- A fundraiser will be planned once we get into the archives.
V. Program:
- For our program, we met at Double Springs Memorial Gardens to learn and practice the techniques of grave dowsing with copper rods. This really works!
