The Winston County Genealogical Society met at Winston County Archives in Double Springs.

I. Minutes:

    1. Minutes from the last meeting were read and approved.

II. Treasurer’s Report:

    1. None

III. Old Business:

    1. A portion of the guidelines for the archives was read by Treva, mentioning that the WCGS will retain all material that is theirs. She also brought the stamp for stamping our property.
    2. Josh Wakefield will give the class on the computer he is building for us. Treva will organize this.
    3. Almost $900 has been donated so far for the archives from the public, which has been earmarked for us.
    4. We now have an additional bookcase to shelve the heritage books.
    5. We have three volunteers for working at the archives, but until we see how it all works out, we will be open on Monday’s and Tuesday’s.

IV. New Business/Upcoming Events:

    1. The WCGS material was moved into the archives building on May 7th.
    2. A class will be held on May 20th at 9:00 at Haleyville City Hall about 501-C3 (tax exemption status) filing. All of us have to work, so P.J. will contact Harold Bearden about videoing the meeting for us.
    3. The date for the archives opening is set for June 29, 2009.
    4. The Bankhead Forest tour is postponed until maybe July.
    5. The June issue of the newsletter is nearly ready to be given to Darryal for printing.
    6. Treva has a list of items that we need before we open.
