The Winston County Genealogical Society met at Winston County Archives in Double Springs.
I. Minutes:
- Minutes from the last meeting were read and item III-C was corrected to read as follows: "Remaining donated funds is almost $900 and has been donated for the archives from the public, which has been earmarked for us."
II. Treasurer’s Report:
- Checking - $481.64
- Deposits - $204.75
- Checks – Trail Tracker printing, $79.80; computer, $854.75; postmaster, $19.71
III. Old Business:
- The class scheduled for tax exemption status last month was canceled.
- The new computers are at the archives and in operation.
- P.J. made a motion to plan the Bankhead Forest tour at the next meeting. The motion carried.
IV. New Business/Upcoming Events:
- The newsletter is out.
- Supplies have been bought for the archives, totaling $337.18. The new table lamps are included in this price.
- Most of the society’s books have been inventoried and shelved.
- The official opening of the archives has been tentatively set for June 29th. We will be open Monday’s and Tuesday’s from 9:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. We may get Chad Fell and Harold Bearden to come by and document the opening on the 29th.
- The Winston County Archives has an e-mail address: winstoncountyarchives@gmail.com.
- A list of CDs of material for use at the archives was discussed.
- Josh Wakefield came by to show us the best way to operate the computers and digital camera for specific purposes that will be used by the archives.
