The Winston County Genealogical Society met at Winston County Archives in Double Springs.

I. Minutes:

    1. Minutes from the last meeting were read. A motion to accept the minutes as approved was made by Treva and seconded by Pauline Watts.

II. Treasurer’s Report:

    1. Checking - $1489.64

III. Old Business:

    1. Dianne and Treva have the society’s permission to purchase supplies and materials for the archives.
    2. The archives is finally open, and several guests have come by.
    3. The Bankhead Forest trip is postponed until fall.
    4. Shelly Hess from the Northwest Alabamian did an interview with Treva for an article in the paper.

IV. New Business/Upcoming Events:

    1. The newsletter is due out soon and stories are needed.
    2. Aerial maps of the county from the 1950s and 1960s were obtained by Ronald.
    3. Faye Ellenburg has donated three books to the archives: Winston County Heritage Book, Sam Baker, and Lovett Family History. Joann Holdbrooks donated an Ancestry CD of War of 1812 veterans. Also Bobby Steele donated death certificates for our family files.
    4. Treva made a motion for expenses to be reimbursed from newsletter CDs sold.

V. Program:

    1. Konnie Miller Thrasher gave the program on the adventures of "Tommie the Cat," that traveled nearly 700 miles from Texas to home in Haleyville in 1956.
