The Winston County Genealogical Society met at Winston County Archives in Double Springs.

I. Minutes:

    1. Minutes from the last meeting were read. A motion to accept the minutes as approved was made by Ronald and seconded by Dianne.

II. Treasurer’s Report:

    1. Checking - $1,646.64

III. Old Business:

    1. The newsletter is nearly ready for printing.

IV. New Business/Upcoming Events:

    1. Treva is working on photographing the first marriage volume. It will then be printed for the archives and the probate office, as well as in CD format. The book will then be closed.

    2. Applications for both the new and old Heritage Book volumes are at the archives.

    3. Knight family reunion will take place Sunday, August 23 from 12:30 to 3:30 at the West House in Haleyville.

    4. A volunteer is needed for Tuesdays to run the archives.

    5. The Alabama Cemetery Preservation Association will give us brochures on helping preserve cemeteries in Winston County. Anyone interested in being a contact for Winston can go to their web site for more information: www.alabama-cemetery-preservation.com.
