The Winston County Genealogical Society met at Winston County Archives in Double Springs.

I. Minutes:

    1. Minutes from the last meeting were read approved.

II. Treasurer’s Report:

    1. Checking - $1,617.55
    2. Deposits - $48.00
    3. Checks – None

III. Old Business:

    1. The road sign project is near completion. The signs have been ordered and have arrived, and the posts have been ordered. Brochures have been printed and will be distributed throughout the county when the signs start going up, around the first week of April.
    2. Dianne has checked with a CPA who told her that we should not be doing anything for taxes since we have no employees. There are no forms that we should be filling out.
    3. Our new book, Winston Roots, Vol. I: Stories of an Alabama County, has been completed. The table of contents and the introduction was passed around for all to read. P.J. will order the draft copy within the next day for everyone to check for mistakes and quality of the printing. After discussion, Darryal made a motion that if the draft copy was accepted, that the society order 75 copies for the first printing. The motion carried, seconded by Treva.

IV. New Business/Upcoming Events:

    1. The newsletter for the June and September issues is near completion.
    2. A book by John Elliott, titled Chasing Dabner, has been donated to the archives.
    3. P.J. mentioned that since the society used to meet in the different areas of the county, that perhaps the society could meet in Addison or Arley once or twice per year. Carol Ingram will check on us meeting at the Arley Library.
    4. Membership is down.
    5. The web site has been on and off line the past week. P.J. is looking into moving it to another hosting place.
