III. Old Business:

    1. Syscon Computers scanned the first two marriage books to CDs. We got two for the price of one due to new equipment the company wanted to try out. They can convert microfilm to CD also, and the society will be looking into this and getting samples and prices. The marriage CDs are our property, but the probate judge is considering letting us sell them.
    2. The society now has a safe deposit box, located at Traders and Farmers Bank, Lynn branch.
    3. The society has a petty cash fund for the purpose of shipping the new book.
    4. Book sales are great. We ordered the sixty mentioned in the previous minutes and are ready to order again.
    5. Dianne contacted Joe Downs, the CPA, and he agreed to handle our filing from now on. He mentioned that since we are selling books, we will need to pay sales tax, which is 4%, on books sold in Alabama. We made our first payment for April.
    6. Robin Sterling’s new books have been released. He mailed us two sets, one in color for the archives, and the other for selling.
    7. Lovett Cemetery cleaning is slated for June 19th, at 12:30, meeting at Union Grove. We will confirm plans at the next meeting.
    8. Due to other items being considered for our bylaws by Jerry, we will discuss this further at our next meeting.

IV. New Business/Upcoming Events:

    1. A copy of our new book has been donated to Wallace State at Hanceville, as well as the Haleyville Public Library.
    2. Mr. Jim Walker has invited us to setup a table and sell books at Military Appreciation Day this Saturday, May 22nd at Lakeshore.
    3. Joan White Crittenden has donated $50 to the society. Ronald made a motion, seconded by Darryal, to buy the new second volume heritage book of Cullman County for $61.00.
