The Winston County Genealogical Society met at Winston County Archives in Double Springs.

I. Minutes:

    1. Minutes from the last meeting were read. P.J. made a correction to the minutes as follows: treasurer’s report, item A. should read $3,034.21; item E. should read $4,785.21. No other corrections made. Carol made a motion to accept the minutes as read, Dianne seconded, and the motion carried.

II. Treasurer’s Report (Since July 20):

    1. Checking - $3,357.01

    2. Heritage Book - $1,751.00

    3. Deposits since last meeting: $322.80

    4. Checks written since last meeting: none.

    5. Total - $5,108.01

III. Old Business:

    1. P.J. called Jeff Grice Insurance Agency the date after the meeting, and he said that he would have to find out which company to write the bond for the treasurer with and that he would get back in touch. He has not called, and Jerry said he would touch base with him.

    2. The bylaws will be completed and presented at the next meeting. We will approve them at the next meeting.

    3. The Old Lovett Cemetery cleaning will take place on Saturday, September 18th. Those interested in helping will need to bring water, tools, and bug spray and meet at Union Grove Church at 12:30.

IV. New Business/Upcoming Events:

    1. The September newsletter is ready for printing. Our new volunteer, Cindy, will help with the printing and collating of the newsletter. It should be out at our next meeting.

    2. There are two upcoming reunions. The Knight reunion will be Sunday, August 22nd at the West House in Haleyville, and the Taylor reunion will be October 2nd at Lakeshore.

    3. Dianne has donated to the archives all of Floyd Lawson’s files on Peter and Andrew Jackson Ingle.

    4. Gary Weilmuenster has postcards of his paintings for sale at the archives.

    5. Darryal wants everyone to notice any files on the following people, along with other early historians. Plans are to do profiles of these individuals for the archives. They are Frank Walker, Nathan Pearson, W.L. Shaddix, Wynelle Dodd, and Judge John Bennett Weaver.
