The Winston County Genealogical Society met at Winston County Archives in Double Springs.

I. Minutes:

    1. Minutes from the last meeting were read and approved. Treva made a motion to accept the minutes as read; Joyce seconded; and the motion carried.

II. Treasurer’s Report (Since August 17):

    1. Checking - $3,628.46
    2. Heritage Book - $1,751.00
    3. Deposits since last meeting: $271.45
    4. Checks written since last meeting: none.
    5. Total - $5,379.46

III. Old Business:

    1. Jerry contacted Jeff Grice Agency concerning the treasurer bond, and Jeff never got back in touch with Jerry. He has gone to other insurance agencies, and if someone can get it, he will call P.J. who will make further arrangements.
    2. The bylaws will be signed at the next meeting and handed out in an updated member handbook.
    3. Our Articles of Incorporation, Article 4, mentions giving members documentation of their membership. It was discussed and decided upon to send this information, as a flyer-type, in our newsletters starting in December.
    4. Members met on September 18, 2010, and cleaned the Old Lovett Cemetery.

IV. New Business/Upcoming Events:

    1. The newly found Old Ingle Cemetery was discussed, including pictures.
    2. Our magic wand scanner, useful for scanning newspaper volumes, has arrived. Cindy Guthrie purchased it on Amazon.com, and we will reimburse her.
    3. The Weilmuenster family will donate a case of paper to the society for copying and newsletter printing.
    4. There will be a Bankhead Forest Archaeology Festival on September 25th.
    5. Robin Sterling has been working on transcribing all the available Southern Claims Commission files, which will be added to the web site.
    6. Josie Hyde has donated old minutes of the Sacred Harp organization.
    7. Mr. Weilmuenster has painted Dr. Blake’s building and donated the original to the archives.
    8. An exact location of the old Riddle school has been found.
    9. The "Trail Tracker" is published and ready for mailing.
    10. Dianne and Treva asked permission to set a dollar amount of money they can spend on smaller purchases, like shelving, without bringing it up at the meeting. Darryal made a motion to set the limit at $500. Jerry seconded, and the motion carried.
    11. Dianne and Treva will be checking on prices for a TV and VCR/DVD combo for the society.

V. Program:

    1. Our program consisted of an interview of Mavis Wooten, an 88 year old lady that grew up in the Arley and Falls City area. Dianne and P.J. went to Cullman and did the interview on September 4, 2010.
