The Winston County Genealogical Society met at Winston County Archives in Double Springs.

I. Minutes:

    1. Minutes from the last meeting were read and approved. Ronald made a motion to accept the minutes as read; Darryal seconded; and the motion carried.

II. Treasurer’s Report (Since November 16):

    1. Checking - $3,560.62
    2. Heritage Book - $1,301.00
    3. Deposits since last meeting: $361.58
    4. Checks written since last meeting: 3 totaling $181.60: $105, Byars & Associates; $36.60 for Trail Tracker postage; and $40 for USPS box rent
    5. Total - $4,861.62

III. Old Business:

    1. The dishonesty policy from Byars and Associates has come in and is in force.
    2. We have 13 of our books left at the archives, with an addition of a few others at different locations, leaving approximately 25 total.
    3. We had a discussion of volume two of Winston Roots, that included size and whether to make two volumes of this one, one being "Patriots" and another being "Pioneers," instead of one volume on both these subjects. Topics also included newspaper photo scanning.
    4. P.J. made a motion to accept a petty cash report every quarter. Darryal made a motion to accept, Ronald seconded, and the motion carried.

IV. New Business:

    1. Our petty cash report had a beginning balance of $92.35 on November 10, 2010 and an ending balance of $84.64 on January 17, 2011. Withdrawals and deposits included money for copies and newsletter and book mailings.
    2. Dues are due in January. Dianne will send a letter to those that have not renewed sometime next month.
    3. Robin Sterling is working on more books, including another newspaper volume.
    4. We will further discuss our income tax for 2010 at the next meeting.
    5. There were no nominations for officers, and Darryal made a motion to retain current officers for 2011, Pauline seconded, and the motion carried.
    6. The society is a recipient of some of Sam Weaver’s historical books donated by his family.
    7. P.J. mentioned that we may want to discuss the idea of having more T-shirts made for sale at the archives.
    8. Plans were discussed for a possible publicized event in May for the archives, since many people will be coming in for decorations.

V. Program:

    1. We watched a short video of YouTube clips involving Civil War veterans.
