The Winston County Genealogical Society met at Winston County Archives in Double Springs.

I. Minutes:

    1. Minutes from the last meeting were read. Trevia made a motion to accept the minutes as read; Darryal seconded; and the motion carried.

II. Treasurer’s Report (Since March 15):

    1. Checking - $4,682.33
    2. Heritage Book - $0 – Closed 3/16
    3. Deposits since last meeting: $1,629.00
    4. Checks written since last meeting: 4, totaling $760.64: books & electric stapler: $274.94; Trail Tracker postage: $29.40; T-shirts: $447.50; Stamps: $8.80
    5. Total - $4,682.33

III. Old Business:

    1. Our T-shirts have come in. The prices are $12.00 for members, $15.00 for non-members, and shipping will be $3.00 if you order by mail. They have been added to the web site for everyone to view.
    2. P.J. contacted the UPS Store in Jasper, and they gave him a quote of $98.46. This includes 24 pages, thicker cover, color cover, 70 copies, printing in booklet style, and also includes the tax. They said that if we are regular customers, this price can be locked in. P.J. made a motion to let the UPS Store print the June issue to see how it all works out. Joann seconded, and the motion carried.
    3. Our electric stapler and Winston Roots books have come in.
    4. Darryal will talk to James Glenn about the condition of the Free State Barn. Mr. Glenn wants to save it, and anyone that can needs to talk to him.
    5. Our safety deposit box was closed on March 16th, and the cash from the heritage book account was deposited into the regular checking account.
    6. The University of Alabama has plotted the schools on a county road map. Once the draft is approved, the project will be done, and we can then get quotes on different sizes for copies to sell.
    7. After Dianne and Trevia spoke to the Haleyville Civitans, they graciously sent a check for $100 to the archives.

IV. New Business:

    1. Petty cash quarterly report: beginning balance on January 17, 2011: $84.64; newsletter mailings: $5.82; book mailings: $2.77; postage for tax mailings: $4.17; stamps: $8.80; newsletter seals: $2.05; change from sale of books: $0.30; plus money for copies: $33.10. Ending balance on April 17, 2011: $93.83.
    2. The archives will be open on April 23, April 30, May 7, May 14, and May 21.
    3. After discussion, the society gave Cindy the okay to create a group page for the society on Facebook.

V. Program:

    1. Steve Turner presented a program on SCV happenings and events over the last few years.
