The Winston County Genealogical Society met at Winston County Archives in Double Springs.

I. Minutes:

    1. Minutes from the last meeting were read. Trevia made a motion to accept the minutes as read; Cindy seconded; and the motion carried.

II. Treasurer’s Report (Since May 17th):

    1. Checking - $4,614.13
    2. Deposits since last meeting: $440.20
    3. Checks written since last meeting: $200 to Winston County Grays; $25 to University of Alabama for map changes; $67.20 to UPS Store for newsletter printing; and $200 to University of Alabama for map purchases.

III. Old Business:

    1. T-shirt sales total 17 so far. There are no plans to reorder at this time.
    2. Since the Haleyville Historical Society did not have a meeting last month, Dianne will speak with them at the next meeting concerning the county barn. We have not heard from James Glenn since the last meeting.
    3. Cindy is up to the Vietnam era on the military file compilation.
    4. Jerry has not spoken with the Walker County Probate Judge concerning the Winston County newspapers they have. Jerry will call him.
    5. The school maps are completed. At the last meeting, there were two that needed to be added. To add these, the University of Alabama charged us $25.00, and the renumbering of the map caused three numbers to be transposed. The mistake was not caught until six maps were ordered. A decision was made to sell these maps at cost. For future orders, the mistake will be corrected.

IV. New Business:

    1. Dianne sold seven books at the Tucker reunion. We still have enough books to last for some time.
    2. Dianne made a motion and Carole Weilmuenster seconded that Robin Sterling be made a lifetime honorary member of the society. The motion carried.
    3. The newsletter is out. It is now made into a booklet format. The UPS Store in Jasper gave us a quote of $98, but it was learned that a black and white cover only cost $67.20.

V. Program:

    1. Marlon and Cindy Guthrie, along with Bennis and Reba Mann, gave our program on the policies, procedures, and activities of the VFW. Marlon is commander of the Haleyville VFW Post 4543 at Delmar, and Bennis is the vice-commander.

VI. Attendance: 16

Meeting adjourned.
