The Winston County Genealogical Society met at the Winston County Archives in Double Springs.

I. Minutes:

A. Minutes from the last meeting were read. Jerry made a motion to

accept the minutes as read; Darryal seconded and the motion carried.

II. Treasurer’s Report ( As of August 16):

A. Checking - $4,367.19

III. Petty Cash Report:

A. No petty cash report

IV. Old Business:

A. Treva reported that Walker County sent us 3 Cemetery books instead of 2.

B. Darryal has not had time to check on the barn as of yet.

D. Sheila or Jerry have not spoken to the Walker County Probate

J. Dick Payne monument has been approved. Steve talked to Roger as soon as funding is secured

V. New Business:

A. PJ as always good job on the Newsletter

B. Ken Mize great grand son of John Mize donated a document organizing The Farmers

Educational and Co-Operative Union of America in Union Chapel. Also document where

John D. Mize was appointed Postmaster. Both documents are copies but Mr. Mize is planning

Trip out here and plans to donate originals to the Archives.

C. Betty Williams donated Cagle Journal which includes census, land records and

Stories. We will be putting them in notebooks, this is solid information for Cagle

Line.

D. Haleyville Historical Society dinner theater is 1 October 2011 at the American

Legion. They will have a matinee at 2 tickets are 7.50 dinner at 6 tickets 15.00.

The Society does a lot to support us and we really need to support them in this

Fundraiser.

E. We need to contact our fellow WCGS friends and find out why they weren’t here

Tonight.

F. Ronald, PJ and others are taking vacations and were encouraged to check into

Historical information when and where they go.

G. Cindy requested names of family or friends that are Veterans for her articles

For the Northwest Alabamian.

H. Dianne is going to try and get Carolyn Riddle to come and speak to us in October
