The Winston County Genealogical Society met at the Winston County Archives in Double Springs.

I. Minutes:

A. Minutes from the last meeting were read. Ronald Jackson made a motion to accept the minutes with the corrections made; PJ Gossett seconded and the motion carried.

II. Treasurer’s Report (As of March 31, 2012):

A. Checking - $4,131.43

III. Petty Cash Report:

A. No petty cash

IV. Old Business:

A. Darryal and Ronald discussed phone calls and monies promised after article appeared in the NorthWest Alabamian. Darryal mentioned that we just need to get with some volunteers and get started. That if people see we have gotten started maybe more donations would come through. Maybe we could at least get feelers out for workers.

B. PJ explained that the indexing was going along with the volunteers that have been lined up and that we don’t need any more volunteers at this time.

C. It was announced that Trevia’s absence was due to the need for Grandma duties in Daphne.

V. New Business:

A. Dianne mentioned that we are down to less then a dozen blue books and with May coming we may need to make an order. Ronald made motion for an order to be made Darryal seconded and an order was voted on and placed.

B. Dianne explained that with the need for hard copies of the 1940 census needed we would be using ink and that we would need to increase the amount we purchase. Jerry Lovett said that is cost of doing business and to make the necessary purchase without the need to vote on it every time.

C. Dianne pointed out the new shelving throughout the Archives and how nice they looked. She went on to explain that a complete inventory was in progress of the Archives and that from now on this would be done annually.
