The Winston County Genealogical Society met at Winston County Archives in Double Springs.

  1. Minutes:
    1. Minutes from the last meeting were read. PJ Gossett made motion to accept the minutes as read Joyce Farris seconded; the motion carried.

II. Treasurer’s Report:

    1. Checking $3,001.92+20.00+10.00=$3,031.93

III. Old Business:

    1. PJ explained that now that we have the microfilm Robin sent him a link to Genealogytrails.com that has the information on them for free. But that he told Robin to proceed with book form.
    2. The grant has been approved but with the Government shut down we don’t know exactly when we will be receiving the funds but that we would be receiving them. Trevia explained that the grant is for $987.00 and that the society is going to match the funds. We will actually be paying $988.00. Also, that in November 2 members would have to go to Montgomery to attend the regrant workshop. That they would pay the expenses and Darryal Jackson made mention that it was important that whoever went would not have any out of pocket expenses.
    3. Darryal also said that there was nothing new to report on the barn and that he would handle that himself.

IV. New Business:

    1. Trevia mentioned the Unionists in the Heart of Dixie volume 2 & 3Darryal made the motion and Dianne and Pat seconded
    2. PJ explained his project put the index and census images on a disk, It is much needed and we know that people would be interested in having their own. There is going to be researching done to see if we can charge for these. That we may not be able to sale them but we may can suggest that people just make a donation to the society.
    3. Pat Owsley brought a wonderful book in called "Corkren Logan Ancestries" she has given us permission to copy book and return original to her.
    4. Trevia announced that next month Ann Baughn would be coming to the meeting and presenting a program on Lynn, As Lynn was named from her family.
    5. Ancestry.com got in touch with Shelia and asked to put our Winston County records on their site. It is the records that have been microfilmed to date.
    6. The Huntsville newspaper got in touch with Joyce and PJ looking for additional information on the Downey Booger. The story can be found on the web site.
    7. Dianne presented the picture of Kelly Old Mill that Steve Turner has donated. We will be framing it and hanging it soon.
