The Winston County Genealogical Society met at the Winston County Archives in Double Springs.

I. Minutes:

A. Minutes of the last meeting were read. Treva made a motion to accept the minutes as read, Ronald Sandlin seconded, and the motion carried.

II. Treasurer’s Report:

    1. Beginning Balance: $2,090.17
    2. Deposits: $70.00
    3. Checks: 0
    4. Ending Balance: $2,160.17

III. Old Business:

    1. Concerning the Winston County High School "Book of Memory," the alumni officers could not find any information on it. P.J. extracted all the information found so far in the newspapers and put it on the web site in hopes that more information can be obtained.
    2. Our south central Winston County tour on April 26th was successful. We visited Kelly’s Mill, Godfrey/Motes area, Wyatt Cheatham’s land, Poplar Springs School, Yorkburg, and Rocky Plains Cemetery. A video of the tour has been put on YouTube.
    3. The society does have a page on Facebook. You can join the group there and keep up to date on our happenings.
    4. Dianne made a motion to purchase the Alabama Pioneers book. Jerry Lovett seconded, and the motion carried.

IV. New Business:

    1. Joan White Crittenden has been generous in her donations. She donated more books recently. Other donations include a new book on Blount County newspapers by Robin Sterling.
    2. Our subscriptions to Fold3 and Ancestry are coming due. Fold3 will be $39.95. Angie made a motion to renew the subscriptions, and P.J. seconded.
    3. Robin Sterling will be our speaker at the June meeting, and Carla Waldrep will speak at a later date.
    4. Lawrence County sent us a newsletter DVD, and we are sending one in return.

V. Program:

    1. Dianne Miller and Angie Barnett spoke to us about the Tucker reunion. Lamar County and Tennessee Valley SAR groups was in attendance, honoring Revolutionary War soldier George Tucker. It was the 35th reunion. Photos of the event were passed around. Dianne reported that she sold $160 worth of books at the reunion.
