The Winston County Genealogical Society met at the Winston County Archives in Double Springs.

I. Minutes:

A. Minutes from the last meeting was read. Pat Owsley made a motion to accept the minutes as read, Treva seconded, and the motion carried.

II. Treasurer’s Report:

    1. Beginning Balance: $1,723.00
    2. Deposits: $120.00
    3. Checks: $93.60 – Alabama Department of Revenue for book sales tax
    4. Ending Balance: $1,749.40

III. Old Business:

    1. The cemetery tour was held on October 24th and was a success. We plan on another tour after the first of the year.

IV. New Business:

    1. For our Christmas meeting, P.J. called Walston Bridge Restaurant, but they are not open on Tuesdays. Treva contacted Lakeshore, and they are open. P.J. made a motion to have our Christmas meeting at Lakeshore, and all approved. It will be held at our regular date and time: Tuesday, December 15 at 6:30 P.M.
    2. Havala yearbooks has been donated by Betty Hood, and Dianne has donated more historical books.

V. Program:

    1. Carla Waldrep spoke to us on the accurate history of Aunt Jenny Johnston, including about what happened during the Civil War, her legend, and her being a medicine woman. Carla is also an herbalist, and she discussed several herbs and described their properties.
