IV. Old Business:

    1. The Christmas meeting was canceled.

V. New Business:

    1. Founding member of the society, Darryal Jackson, passed away December 14, 2015. We have received two donations in memory of him: $100 from Don Dodd and $50 from Jerry and Betty Lovett. We would like to also do something in his memory. One idea is, if the archives gets permission, naming a library or genealogy section of the archives in his name. If we can accomplish this, we are thinking of trying to get a newspaper article on this. Robin suggested seeing if a street in Double Springs could be named "Jackson Street." The society is open for other suggestions. Treva will check with Sheila Moore about getting the library section of the archives named. In the meantime, P.J. needs personal mentions, maybe a paragraph, about Darryal for inclusion in the next newsletter for a memorial section.
    2. Officer elections were held. The floor was opened for volunteers or nominations. Ronald Jackson agreed to take Darryal’s place on the Board of Directors, and all accepted. Cindy had previously requested, due to personal reasons, to step down from her office as Co-Treasurer. The list of officers were read: President, Dianne Miller; Vice-President/Treasurer, Treva Hood; Secretary, P.J. Gossett; and Board of Directors: P.J. Gossett, Ronald Jackson, and Jerry Lovett. No one else was nominated, and the floor closed. These are the 2016 officers.
    3. Through the archives fund, we have a new Windows 10 computer at the archives.
    4. 2016 dues are due.
    5. We received a revenue check from Lulu in November for $76.72.
    6. Joan White Crittenden donated a book on the First Alabama Cavalry, other newsletters are in, and Robin Sterling has donated two more newspaper books on Blount and Lawrence Counties.
    7. There was a recent article on Floyd Guthrie in the Daily Mountain Eagle, issue of January 17, 2016.

VI. Program:

    1. Robin read newspaper articles concerning Winston County from his new newspaper book on Lawrence County.

VII. Attendance: 9

Meeting adjourned.
