The Winston County Genealogical Society met at the Winston County Archives in Double Springs.

I. Minutes:

    1. Minutes from the last meeting were read. Ronald made a motion to accept the minutes as read; Jerry seconded; and the motion carried.

    II. Treasurer’s Report:

      1. Beginning Balance: $2,077.02
      2. Deposits: $568.50
      3. Checks: $149.84: $80 to Robin Sterling for two book sales and $69.84 to Cindy Guthrie for toner cartridge
      4. Ending Balance: $2,495.68

    III. Old Business:

      1. The plaque for Darryal Jackson is in and very nice. We will designate our section at the archives as the Darryal Jackson Corner. Darryal had bought a storage shed and kept our collection in it before the archives was built.

    IV. New Business:

      1. Treva and Ronald has signature cards made today at the bank.
      2. There is a genealogy seminar by the Alabama Genealogical Society on March 12th at Samford University in Birmingham if anyone is interested.
      3. Betty Hood recently donated some books on marriage records and census index records for some Alabama and Georgia counties, along with photos of a school possibly near Addison.

    V. Program:

      1. Jim Richards spoke to us about Rabbitown, Forest Inn, and the trading post. He also spoke about trying to locate the exact spot of the original Looney’s Tavern and Looney genealogy.
