The Winston County Genealogical Society met at the Winston County Archives in Double Springs.

I. Minutes:

A. Minutes from the last meeting were read. Jerry made a motion to accept the minutes as read; Carolyn seconded; and the motion carried.

II. Treasurer’s Report:

    1. Beginning Balance: $2,495.68
    2. Deposits: $318.32
    3. Checks: $341.54; $51.54 for stamps and CD mailing; $290 to Downs and Associates for taxes
    4. Ending Balance: $2,472.46

III. Old Business:

    1. Darryal Jackson’s plaque has been placed on the wall in the Darryal Jackson Corner.
    2. Our taxes have been completed.

IV. New Business:

    1. March newsletter is out.
    2. Robin Sterling’s latest book has been published on Walker County newspapers from 1910 to 1913.
    3. Robin sent a picture to P.J. of an Addison grist mill with Joseph Smothers and Willie Watts included. He will print the picture for the archives, and it will be on the web site shortly.
    4. Sam Taylor has donated two boxes of Tennessee and North Carolina quarterlies.
    5. Our next Winston Roots is being worked on. It will be volume four and will concentrate on pioneers again. We would like to have it finished and ready by May. We also discussed about having a collage of photos on the front cover.
    6. Robin has found an old cemetery in Houston, and he sent photos to P.J. earlier in the week. It was determined to be the Montgomery Cemetery.
