Mary Roaeny Carter was the daughter of Lloyd Carter and Delilah Brooks Carter. Mary was born in North Carolina. Her family lived in the Grassy Pond Area of South Carolina (North west of Gaffney, South Carolina near the North Carolina boarder. Lloyd Carter and Delilah; Abisha Wilson and Elizabeth Brooks Wilson; William Wellington Brooks moved to Jefferson County, Alabama in 1847. Brooks and Carter moved to Winston County before 1860.
