Obituary. Addison, Alabama. Died—At his home near Falkville, Alabama in Morgan County—Brother R.J. Dollar, on November 24th, 1905. He was born in St. Clair County in this State on December 16, 1856. He professed religion at about 20 years of age, joined the Baptist Church and was ordained a deacon in said church, and lived a constant, devoted and faithful member until his death, and died in the full triumph of a living faith. On August 21, 1879 he was married to F.E. Stevens, daughter of the well known George Stevens of Georgia, and they lived happy together until God said for him to come up a little higher. There were born unto them 12 children, of which 9 still survive and 3 have superseded him to the glory land. He was a member of the fraternity—was made a Mason in Addison lodge No. 463 of which he was a true member until death. He was such a true Christian, good neighbor and benevolent Mason that to know him was to love him. We would say to his wife who stood by him and waited on him and watched him so faithfully during his sickness, also to the dear children to weep not, for our great loss is his eternal gain. It is only the voice that Jesus sends to call us home. Let us try to imitate his life and be ready when the summons comes to meet the Lord. “Blessed are they that die in the Lord.” We know that Bro. Dollar has a part in the first resurrection. The book says, “Blessed are they that have a part in the first resurrection, the second death has no power over them.” G.B. Lester, Chairman Committee. [R.J. Dollar, 16 Dec 1856 – 24 Nov 1905; buried Fairview No. 2 Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery at Addison]
