John Garrison, David Garrison, Reddin Garrison & Mary Farley only children of Stephen Garrison died late a pensioner of the Huntsville Ala. Agency, per act of Congress of May 15, 1821, Dr. for his pension from Sept. 3rd 1840 to January 3, 1841 at $666 1/3, per month $26.89.

For the purpose of attaining the benefits of an act for the relief of certain survivors officers and soldiers of the Revolution, approved on the 5th day of May 1828, I Stephen Garrison of the County of Lawrence State of Alabama, do hereby declare that I enlisted in the Continental line of the army of the Revolution for and during the war and continued in the service until its termination at which I was a Private in Captain Anthony Thorpes company in the North Carolina Regiment commanded by Archibald Little, Colonel of the North Carolina Line and I also declare that I ought to have afterward received (but did not) a certificate for the amount of eighty-dollars to which I was entitled under a resolve of Congress passed the 15th day of May 1778. And I further declare that I was not on the 15th day of May 1828 on the pension list of the United States. Witness my hand this 9th day of August 1828.

Know all men by these that I David Garrison of the County of Walker in the State of Alabama a Child of Stephen Garrison who was a Revolutionary Pensioner of the United States do hereby constitute & appoint my brother Silas M. Garrison my true & lawful attorney for me and in my name to receive from the agent of the United States for paying pensions in the City of Washington, in the District of Columbia the balance of the Pension –for said Stephen Garrison from the 3rd day of March 1840 to the 3rd day of January 1841 being the day of said Stephen’s death. Witness my hand & seal this 30th day of September 1857.

Know all men by their presents that I Mary Farley of the County of Lawrence, the State of Alabama a child of Stephen Garrison, who was a Revolutionary pensioner of the United States do hereby Constitute & appoint my brother Silas M. Garrison my true and lawful attorney for me and in my name to receive from the Agent of the United States for paying Pensions in the City of Washington in the District of Columbia, the balance of the Pension due said Stephen Garrison from the 3rd day of March 1840 to the 3rd day of January 1841 being the day of said Stephen’s death. Witness my hand & seal, this 20th day of January 1858.

Be it known that before me David S. Dinsmore a Justice of the Peace in & of the County aforesaid, duly authorized by law to administer oath personally appeared Silas M. Garrison and made oath in due form of the law that he is the legitimate son of Stephen Garrison, the identical person who was a pensioner & is now dead, and to whom a Certificate of Pension was issued; And that the Pension Certificate of Said Pensioner has been lost and after due search and inquiry there for, it cannot be found, That the deceased Pensioner resided in that portion of Walker County which is now Called Hancock County in the State of Alabama for the span of about fifteen years before his death and that previous there to he resided in the State of South Carolina.

Garrison my true and lawful attorney for me and in my name to receive from the Agent of the United States for paying pensions in the City of Washington in The District of Columbia, the balance of the Pension due said Stephen Garrison from the 3rd day of March 1840 to the 3rd day of January 1841, being the day of said Stephen’s death. CLAIM FOR LAND WARRANTY

State of Alabama--------------County of Winston-------------on the 25th day of May A. D. 1891 personally appeared before me, a Notary Public in and for the aforesaid County, duly authorized to administer oaths, Silas M. Garrison aged 82 years, a resident of Ellaville in the county of Winston and State of Alabama, whose Post Office address is Ellaville, Winston Co., Ala, and who being duly sworn declares as follows: that he is the only heir and son of Stephen Garrison deceased, who served as a Private in Captain Anthony Thorpes Co. of Infantry, of the Revolutionary War for about four years and eight months, and who died about the 20th day of March 1854 (?) in Winston County, Ala; that a land warrant was issued said Stephen Garrison deceased for aforesaid service for 640 acres, which land warrant was destroyed by the burning of the residence of his youngest daughter Mrs. Malinda Townly nee Garrison in the year of 1846, that said land warrant never has been located, that said Malinda Townly nee Garrison resided at Jefferson Co. near Elyton at the time of the burning of her residence. That a duplicate of said land warrant be issued and handed to his attorney.

The declarant hereby appoints with full power of substitution and revocation

J. C. DePriest of Washington D. C. his attorney and authorizes him to present and prosecute this claim, to receive and receipt for the certificate or money that may be issued or paid upon the forgoing application, and to do any said and all acts necessary to effect the purpose of said appointment.
