T.B. Russell Dies In Haleyville. Thomas B. Russell, former prominent attorney in this county, died at his home in Haleyville, last Thursday. Mr. Russell had been in declining health for three or four years. He was a victim of tuberculosis. He was about 60 years of age and for a number of years had been a member of the M.E. Church, South. Mr. Russell was a native of this county, and spent his boyhood near Brooksville and Summit. After attending Blount College in the early nineties he began the study of law in one of the law offices in Oneonta and was admitted to the bar about 1895. He served as County Solicitor for a time and was later elected Mayor of Oneonta. He was a candidate for Probate Judge in 1906 and again in 1912, but was not successful. He was one of the leading lawyers at the Oneonta bar for a number of years. In 1925 he sold his interest in the law firm of Russell & Johnson and went to Kentucky. After a short time he came back to Alabama and located in Haleyville. The deceased is survived by his widow who lives at Haleyville; his father, Alfred Russell who resides in Oneonta; four brothers, James and Sam Russell of Birmingham; Bill Russell of Oneonta; and Grover Russell; two sisters, Mrs. W.C. Suttles of Summit, and Mrs. Coleman of Birmingham. The funeral services were held at Haleyville.
