Travis Obie Riddle Obituary

COLUMBIA, SC - Funeral services for Mr. Travis Obie Riddle, 84, were held Sunday, August 15, 2004 in New Heights Baptist Church. The Reverend Michael L. Townsend and The Reverend Harry Bauknight officiated. Internment followed in Crescent Hill Memorial Gardens with military honors.

Born in Winston County, Alabama, he was a son of the late Manson Alexander Riddle and Martha L. Walker Riddle. Mr. Riddle was a World War II veteran, having served in the 82nd and 101st Airborn. He was an accomplished wood craftsman and cabinet maker. He was a pioneer in the development of plastic manufacturing processes in the United States and was Plastic Supervisor of T.A.S.C., Ft. Jackson, SC. He was a director of U.S. Army plastic manufacturing facilities at Ft. Eustis, VA. Upon his retirement, he founded Riddle Corporation, a plastic manufacturing company producing products for the military and industry. Mr. Riddle was a member of the Society of Plastic Engineers, a Mason and a member of Colonial Heights Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Jane Missouri Ashley Riddle; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ernest Veto Riddle and Anne S. Riddle of Pomaria, Ronald Eugene Riddle and Rita Anderson Riddle of Swansea; one daughter, Terry Riddle Smith of Columbia; one sister, Winnie Riddle Williams of Simpsonville; three grandchildren, Travis James Riddle, Karen Riddle Baxley and Kimberly Lynn Smith; one great-grandchild, James Owin Baxley. Mr. Riddle was preceded in death by brothers and sisters; William Artis Riddle, Ethel Alexander Riddle, Laura Riddle Goodwin, Etsel Veto Riddle and Ruby Riddle Sewell.
